Nancy Stauch, M.A.

Nancy Stauch, M.A., a seasoned educator and Cal Poly lecturer, brings a wealth of classroom experience to our Secondary Education program. With a strong background in science education and a passion for improving teacher preparation, Stauch guides aspiring educators through rigorous coursework and real-world experiences. Her research focuses on enhancing co-teaching and the impact of science instruction, ensuring our graduates are well-prepared to meet the demands of today's classrooms.

Megan Guise, Ph.D.

English content Advisor, full professor

Megan Guise is a Professor of Education and advisor to the English credential program at Cal Poly. Since joining the faculty in 2009, she has taught in the Single Subject credential program and Curriculum and Instruction master’s programs, while also mentoring future educators through clinical supervision and master’s projects. A former high school English teacher, Megan brings both practical experience and deep academic insight to her work.

Megan’s research focuses on supporting new teachers, effective coteaching, and meaningful feedback in the classroom. Her work has been published in top journals, such as The Journal of Teacher Education and Teaching and Teacher Education, and reflects her commitment to preparing educators who lead with purpose, equity, and impact.

Joel Orth, Ph.D.

Social Science Content Advisor, associate professor

Joel Orth, Ph.D. brings a wealth of knowledge in environmental, agricultural, and Great Plains history to Cal Poly. His extensive experience in teaching history courses, including US history and environmental history informs his engaging teaching style, and he is passionate about preparing future teachers to effectively integrate history into their classrooms. Orth guides student teachers through rigorous coursework and real-world experiences, ensuring they are well-equipped to succeed in the classroom.
