Graduate Research Symposium 2026

5th Annual Graduate Research Symposium

School of Education, Building 2

Saturday, May 16, 2026

From 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM (Presenters are invited to be there at 11:30 AM).

The School of Education’s very first Graduate Research Symposium was held in May 2022 — an inaugural event designed to apply Learn by Doing in the context of graduate education.

The SOE Graduate Research Symposium is an opportunity for graduate students from our four graduate programs -- ELAP, C&I, HECSA, and Special Education -- to present their research. Incorporating research and reflective practice, this event showcases ideas, findings, original work, and knowledge on specific new initiatives, challenges, and emerging issues in the field of education.

Presentations will include some topics titled, “Early Learning Exposure for English Language Learner’s Phonological and Linguistic Development,” “Promoting Academic Engagement through Self-Management for Students with ADHD in General Education Classrooms,” and “Guided Play and Letter Sound Correspondence in Emergent Bilingual Students.”

This Symposium is open to students, local educators, and community members to attend.

The Event

Learn by Doing in the context of Graduate Education involves research and reflective practice. For many years this has been at the heart of our master's degree programs in Curriculum and Instruction (C&I), Special Education (SPED), Higher Education Counseling and Student Affairs (HECSA), and Educational Leadership and Administration (ELAP).

The annual Graduate Research Symposium will provide a unique and exciting opportunity for current students to share their ideas, findings, original work, and knowledge on specific new initiatives, challenges, and emerging issues in the field of education.

Refreshments and food will be provided during the whole event; guests and presenters will be able to observe and participate in all posters. For further details, please refer to the program.
