ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Admission to the master's degree program in Education with a specialization in Educational Leadership and Administration is competitive and requires the following:
1. Bachelor’s Degree
Must be in progress or completed from a regionally accredited institution. Must have a bachelor’s degree conferred prior to the program start.
2. GPA
Cumulative higher education grade point average (GPA) of 3.0.
3. Letters of Recommendation
Name and email of 3 individuals to submit a letter of recommendation
4. Resume or Curriculum Vitae
Possess an updated resume to be uploaded with application.
5. ELAP Questionaire
Completed ELAP Questionnaire containing each of the following:
- A one-page statement that expresses your philosophy of educational leadership
- A two-page statement that elaborates on your career goals in leadership.
6. Valid Clear California Teaching/Service Credential*
Proof of valid clear Teaching Credential or appropriate clear service credential as specified by California law and regulation
7. Five years of full-time teaching/service experience*
Statement from your district/agency verifying proof of a minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience in the use of your clear teaching/service credential (Verification of experience must be on the district or employing agency letterhead and signed by the superintendent, assistant superintendent, director of personnel, or director of human resources).
8. Basic Skills Requirement*
Proof of valid credential will be proof of Basic Skills Requirement.
9. Letter of Support from Employing District*
Administrative Services Internship Program applicants only
*Items not required for Masters Only applicants.
HOW TO APPLY:
1. Submit a Graduate application to Cal Poly
2. Upload the following requirements (within Cal State Apply)
- Resume or Curriculum Vitae
- ELAP Questionnaire
- Valid Clear California Teaching/Service Credential*
- Letter verifying five years of full-time teaching/service experience*
- Unofficial transcripts for all other colleges/universities as “Supplemental Materials.” (if applicable)
- Name and email of 3 individuals to submit a letter of recommendation
*Items not required for Masters Only applicants.
3. Send official transcripts to the Cal Poly Admissions Office
Transcripts must be sent directly from the degree-granting institution by the Cal State Apply deadline.
- Instructions on how to submit your official transcripts
- Cal Poly bachelor's degree holders do not need to provide these transcripts
- Transcripts verifying Community College and/or Graduate-level coursework should also be sent to Cal Poly Admissions
