Role
Virginia serves as the Assessment Coordinator for the Cal Poly School of Education. In this role, Virginia facilitates data-driven program assessment and continuous improvement efforts for each SOE program, and across the SOE unit. Current SOE assessment efforts include:
- Accreditation by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
- Assessment of Credential Candidates, including performance assessments and fieldwork observations
- Annual program assessment submitted to the Cal Poly Academic Affairs Assessment Committee
- Internal SOE program and unit assessment for ongoing reflection and continuous improvement
- Assessment of long-term program outcomes, including completion rates, and alumni in-service teachers
- Annual surveys of stakeholder satisfaction, exit surveys, and alumni surveys
- Supporting assessment and reporting for SOE grant projects and programs
Previously, Virginia served as a classroom teacher and education administrator for two large charter school districts in south Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. Virginia is a graduate of the University of Michigan (B.A.) and University of Southern California (M.A.), and is a National Board Certified Teacher.
